Bees are not only sweet honey...

General Director of the Belpchelovodstvo Municipal Unitary Enterprise Pavel Paretsky draws attention to the fact that honey production is one of the main directions in beekeeping. The Zhdanovichi Agricultural Plant held a training seminar for district livestock specialists on beekeeping.

At the enterprise "Agrokombinat "Zhdanovichi" a training seminar was held for district livestock specialists on beekeeping.

General Director of the municipal unitary enterprise "Belpchelovodstvo" Pavel Paretsky draws attention to the fact that honey production — one of the main directions in beekeeping. Apiary owners are also tasked with effective pollination of crops, and here the beekeepers of the capital region also set an example for many of their colleagues. It is no coincidence that it was in the Minsk region that it was decided to hold a regional seminar-training for district livestock specialists on beekeeping.

His participants visited the Zhdanovichi agricultural complex. Here they got acquainted with the work of greenhouses for growing vegetables and roses, as well as with the only laboratory in the republic for breeding bumblebees.

These furry creatures are very important for pollinating vegetable crops. If we take into account that the agricultural enterprise is a large producer of vegetables in Belarus, then the “striped helpers” simply irreplaceable for vegetable growers.

The laboratory produces up to 2.5 thousand bumblebee families per year. They fully meet their own needs, the rest goes to sales. This is one of the revenue items, and, note, not the most recent. Thus, the profitability of sales of bumblebee colonies last year was about 6 percent. It is not surprising that another laboratory of the same type is currently being built here, which will take the bumblebee business to an even higher level.

Beekeeping is developing just as rapidly in the agricultural complex. Suffice it to say that if in 2010 there were only 35 bee families, today there are already 300 of them. Last year the farm received 2 tons of marketable honey.

The head of the workshop for the production of bumblebees, bees and pollination of agricultural crops, Ivan Klimko, emphasizes that all achievements became possible thanks to the support of the general director of the agricultural complex, Grigory Chuiko. All the necessary conditions have been created for bumblebee and beekeepers on the farm. The response to this concern was to reduce the overall costs of sweet production. Thus, the production of beehives has been established in our own carpentry shop. They also refused to buy queen bees here; they are bred locally. A third of the wax consumed also comes from our own reserves.

Vladimir Kapustin, First Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Food of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee, took part in summing up the results of the seminar. He emphasized that beekeeping in the capital region receives the same attention as other branches of agricultural production, and this directly affects the positive results in its development.
